Chuck and Duck
Well, we knew it would be a chuck and duck kind of day with the generation schedule and it was that all day. Put in at Happy, ran up and floated down throwing 250 and 350 grain lines with various streamers.
We saw a lot of fish but only had one hit and one hook up. My hook up was a nice football sized bow that unhitched near the boat.
Finally, back near the takeout, we anchored up with enjoy a libation and shoot the shit when we saw some fishing rising. Being that Gordie had a 6 weight rigged with floating line, we watched the water and saw they were eating something gray. I grabbed my dry fly box and the closest I had was a Griffiths Gnat. He tied that on and after a dozen or so casts missed the first take and then after a few more drifts coaxed one to take his fly. A nice little bow on a dry on the Caney under generation. Go figure.
To quote Gordie, "Some days is not about the fish, it is about the fishing."
As always, a great day on the water.
